Time for Some Catch Up

I am really REALLY behind on my Sofia blogging so I am going to start with what has been happening during her eighth month of life that has got me all sorts of backed up. There's been playgroups, music class, storytimes at the library, & trips to visit family in Boston, oh yeah and a trip to the circus just to name a few of our many events & activities in our busy little lives. She has really started growing up way too fast & I wish I could just hit the pause button & slow things down. I truly love every moment I spend getting to know this amazing little girl...

Hello Mr. Balloon Where Have You Been All My Life?

It's awesome to watch Sofia begin to take notice of things out in the world. The other day it was a balloon in the grocery store. I don't think she had paid much attention to them before but for some reason they really had her completely fascinated. It fully occupied her entire life for one afternoon. Her favorite part was when her best friend Tosh the cat joined in - she found this to be absolutely wonderful.

Feed Me Woman!!

Sofia is becoming such an amazing & adventurous little eater. The best part about making my own food for her is getting to try all sorts of different concoctions such as sweet corn & green beans as well as adding tiny amounts of spices such as mint, nutmeg, basil, & cinnamon to her fruits & veggies. I've also begun adding olive oil as well - according to Italian folklore it is supposed to make a babies hair thick, curly, & naturally shiny - my grandmother used to say the same thing about eating the crust off the bread. The only thing she hasn't been crazy about is Apricots & Peas - not together of course. This weeks hit was avocados - they made her laugh and go mmmmmmm.

Something New Everyday!

Sofia seems to pick up a new skill almost everyday such as clapping, waving (although she sometimes gets confused and waves to herself instead of the person the wave is in fact intended for), leaning her head to one side to see the world from another perspective, and a whole plethora of new sounds like mamamama & blahblahblahblah, & lalalala. Her latest is scooting on her belly and coming dangerously close to crawling in her crib, unfortunately she has yet to find reverse and gets her self stuck into corners until we rescue her. This has made naptime even more challenging...

Happy Happy Lucky Number Seven!!

It used to be so easy to get a few snaps of the camera off with her cute little homemade Birthday crown on - now however she has taken a rather alarming stand against all things sitting upon her head. So I had to bribe her with a baby spork and the promise of something on the spork in order to get her 7 Month picture done there was also singing, dancing, some bad white girl rap, & the ever popular if you really loved me you'd do it.... She can't even speak yet and I'm already resorting to trickery this can't be good. (And yes I realize my 7 month post is a bit late in making its way to the blog. August has been a doosey. I predict crawling soon very very soon...)

Forts, Laughter, & Clapping

Sofia went through a crazy growth spurt this past week...seriously she took like 3 or 4 naps a day & suddenly couldn't fit into her pants anymore. She's got super long limbs and now is wearing 12 month clothes and she's only 7 months ...holy crazy growing baby! Her and her Daddy built a fort...she loves blanket forts. Her big accomplish this week was learning how to clap which she is so proud of she claps nonstop while laughing her other newest accomplishment it's a super duper awesome laugh that's a blend of a cough and a giggle. We'll post a video soon...

A Visit to the Infant Center at the Denver Childrens Museum

We spent "Sunday Funday" exploring the Infant Center at the Denver Children's Museum. There wasn't a lot to do for a little one who hasn't got the crawling bit down, but she did her best crawl attempt through a log tunnel.

She was really interested in checking out the fire truck. However, once she found out there was a hat involved she said forget that I want nothing to do with this firefighting business...

Sofia liked driving the little boat...just like her Daddy.

We had a fantastic day hanging out on the carpet enjoying Sofia's favorite pastime...toddler watching. She definetely likes the little boys the best...such a flirt her Daddy's in big trouble.

Fun-Filled Weekend! (& A Bump or Bruise or Two)

We ended the weekend with a trip up to Sloans Lake for the Dragon Boat Festival where we watched some breakdancers (no idea what they had to do with the Asian Festival but it was cool regardless) and some boats and Sofia did her best impression of Billy Idol because she digs his music.

We played with our favorite animal, Tosh the kitty. Thankfully Sofia once again was unsuccessful at her continued attempts to remove Tosh's ear from his head ... being all looks & no brains Tosh just keeps coming back for more.

There was swimming & more swimming. Much like the bathtub Sofia can't get enough time in the water. Considering she started out hating and I'm talking true blood curdling scream hatred baths when she was a wee teeny little baby it's quite amazing the complete turn around. Although she still yells in horror when you try to wipe pureed pears off her face...
As a side note: Saturday was a bit rough when I put Sofia on our bed to get dressed and she decided it was a perfect time to figure out how to go from sitting straight up to assuming the crawl position and scoot herself off the bed in about 2 seconds flat. Luckily I did a major league slide and caught her before she hit the floor.

Grass in Our Toes & A Swing in The Park

We got ourselves all dressed in our new summer outfit from Sofia's Great-grandparents & spent the afternoon in the park.

Catching Up Continues...You're Baptism!

Last weekend was Sofia's baptism at our church. It was a fun-filled weekend with Nana & Grampy and Auntie Nikki & Uncle Dave (aka The Godparents) coming all the way from Boston. It took a couple of days for her to stop crying and wondering what all the commotion was about in the house but she definetely missed everyone when they left. It took her a couple of days to stop looking for everyone. Thankfullly we will get to see everyone again in a few weeks when we go to Boston for our first family vacation!!! We love you all and miss you terribly!!! Thank you for making the weekend so memorable!!!xoxo

Blogging Backlog - My Baby Turns 1/2 Year Old!

Yes I realize this post is almost exactly one month late - but better late than never is my blogging philosophy. This has been a month of growth spurts & teething which has caused you lots of cranky discomfort my little one. You have totally sprouted right into your 12 month pants - which is odd considering the size of both your parents. However, if you are like me you will grow all at once and then you'll just stop for good. Or maybe you'll be a 5ft 9 supermodel - I guess we'll have to wait & see....

Baby's First Cold...:(

This pretty much sums up Sofia's Father's Day weekend. Sofa, Sippy Cup, & Sleeping. So all plans for a fun-filled weekend were put on hold & we snuggled up on the sofa with our favorite blankie & toys. Finally, by Sunday we were able to get out for an afternoon walk to get some fresh air. She also learned to hold and drink from a Sippy Cup right from the first try pretty cool stuff - its a bit big for her to hold up but she's figuring it all out.

Whew What a Week!

This has been some week for such a little person. First, you started eating some pureed food this week - I got to finally use my "BabyCook" & made some pureed organic peaches & brown rice cereal for your first non-bottle meal. You were a bit apprehensive at the strange object coming at your mouth, but you licked it off the spoon & ate it up. Next up will be butternut squash. Sunday we all ventured out for a walk trying to beat the crazy afternoon thunderstorms that have hit us every single day for the past couple of weeks. Well, we didn't make it & ended up about 20 blocks from home running in a downpour as we watched a funnel cloud forming over head. By far the craziest thing ever. Thankfully, the nicest couple came out and invited us to take shelter on their porch and when the storm continued to worsen they offered to drive us home. They must have felt very very bad for you with such complete idiots as parents. OH & your hair really seems to be growing quite nicely as seen in the picture above. I think you are making a fist & considering giving me a good punch for taking you out in a potential tornado....

Sofia's First Pool Party!

Sofia went to her first pool party today in honor of Quinn's 3rd Birthday. For those of you at our wedding Quinn was the adorable little man belonging to our good friends Travis & Stacey. Scott dipped her legs into the pool & she seemed a bit in awe at the size of the "bathtub" but she didn't scream bloody murder which is a always a good sign. Believe me she may be only 5 months old but her communication skills are quite sharp...

5 Months My Little Peanut....

Five Months my love & your little face just keeps getting cuter & cuter as clearly stated by the evidence above. You have a new little baby cousin, Caden. You had your first trip to the zoo, your second trip to the art museum, & your first time about 5280 elevation when we visited your Uncle Dave & Aunt Anne's beautiful new house. You've made some new friends at music class & had to say goodbye to your friend Ellie who graduated to the next level of Gymboree. You are getting super anxious to sit up & turn over & crawl. All of which are good signs that you are getting prepared to test your little wings. You've learned all sorts of new baby words & can reach some awfully high pitches when you are excited. You are a silly little girl who likes to cover herself up and pretend your asleep when momma comes in to get you up in the mornings. When I get close to your crib you pull the cover down and say eeeee with a big smile on your face. Is there anything better than that at 7 in the morning?
